Her challenge was to only use designer paper and a word sentiment…no images. Her cards were OH SO Pretty that I had to give it a whirl, so this week I’ll share them with you.
I took her challenge and added another one of my own…to only use the tags that come with most designer paper. Many of you know that I just love Basic Grey paper…so this will be most of my focus.
For these first two cards I used the light blue, rose red and black . The accessories were ribbons….May Arts Olive green satin with a pretty scalloped edge and the soft and luxurious light blue velvet. I have also used a small accent of white and black.
This card was very simple. The base of this card is metallic red paper from Flourishes. It gives this card a ver special look that just doesn’t come thru on the photo. I cut off the top of the trapezoid tag and layered it with black. Both of the circles, one from the coordinate in the package of designer paper, and the other in black were both cut with the Nestabilities. A simple addition of the May Arts Olive scalloped ribbon and it was fini.
The next card is a pocket card. Using the Purely Pomegranate I made the card as usual, then trimmed down to 4 1/2 inches high. Using the largest Marvy rectangle punch (lavender), I cut out the top then angled it to open a little more and follow the cut off corners of the tag. The insert is white and black with a circle tag and another black cut with the Nestabilities.
The focus on the front of the card is from two different tags. The background one, I cut off the tag section and left the piece exactly 4 1/4″. I made the small white & black tag using scraps and cut the edges to follow the lines.
The ribbons are the May Arts Olive scalloped layered with the lite blue velvet ribbon as well as the pull out tag.
All the sentiments used on the cards came from the Flourishes Christmas sets. The calligraphy makes them stand outs on their own.

Oh, Jan, I love them both!!! They are just gorgeous — the colors are fabulous — I love light blue with olive and your addition of the rose red is wonderful. That paper is also just divine — another pretty bird — LOL!!!! Great ribbon treatment, too — wonderfully done — so glad you decided to play along — love these both — TFS!!!
I would never have thought of olive and light blue!! But here’s the proof…two very lovely Christmas Cards. The Basic Grey paper was an added bonus. You’ve out done yourself Jan Marie
