Stamping Simply-CASE

Sharon Johnson (notimetostamp) has the greatest challenges on her blog each Friday.  Even though  I am running a little behind I still wanted to post a card I made for her challenge 2 weeks ago.  We were to CASE a card from the Splitcoaststampers Gallery.  So I choose to CASE this one from JulieHRR http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/383612?cat=fav&perpage=48&thumbsonly=0&thumbcheck=

Here is my interpretation of the card….

Actually I would have to say that her card was my inspiration…’cause I didn’t have anything she used.  No stamp and no punch, but that didn’t stopp me before when I saw  a great design and could learn from it.  I substituted the side stamp with an old favorite of mine by Anna Griffin for All Night Media stamped in Burnt Umber by Hybrid Palette.  I didn’t have the punch that Julie used to make her folder  either, so I made mine cutting and folding a strip of Basic Grey paper (Snowed in/Wintermint from the Fruitcake collection), used a corner rounder on the corners, made my tab with the SU punch, this time showing the reverse of the DP.  I love the colors in this card–Pale Yellow, Brown and Aqua.  The card is made of SU Barely Banana, and the ribbon is two sided aqua and chocolate I found some time ago at Michael’s.  The ink used for the stamping brought it all together.  Just a small amount of aging on the edge of the sentiment stamp card adds so more depth.

Sometimes the more simply we stamp the better our thought is conveyed.

So this is just some of the goings on in the Atelier…I am sure there will be more forth coming soon….humm, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and Flourishes has such great new stamps out that are full of love..guess I be getting that lovin’ feeling!

No Time To Stamp is CASED

Sharon Johnson (SCS notimetostamp), our Flourishes Design Team Coordinator, has a challenge each Friday on her blog (which is grand).

The challenge this week was a one layer card.  She was so inspiring and created cards using several Flourishes stamps.  They were all white cards, accented with embossing, using the Cuttlebug folders and the Scor Pal.  We were allowed to use ribbons and embellishments but no layers.  

So I took on the challenge and CASED one of her cards..well almost.  Instead of white cardstock I used brushed gold metallic which  is available at the Flourishes web paper arts boutique.  I used the Cuttlebug folder, though a different one that she had used, and amazingly as I embossed the first one I noticed that the gold metallic paper took on a new look.  I too accented this area by using my Scor Pal, laying my card face down and placing a score line at the top and bottom of the area that had been in the folder.    I followed her lead and used small red rhinestones for some added interest.  The sentiment is also a Flourishes stamp from the Flourished Christmas set.  This card turned out very elegant and yet simple.  I wish I had used a slightly larger red ribbon for the “cherry on top” finishing touch, but for today I used what I had.

You can bet the Atelier will be busy the rest of the weekend making my Christmas cards.

Lace Hearts-It’s Love

With the release of three sets today, we at Flourishes have turned our heads and are looking at love, each in a different and very versatile manner.

This set, Lace Hearts, is the work of my dear sister Diane Roche and Joan Machinchick. Diane does much of the actual digitizing of our sets..and she is a wiz at it.  The heart in this set is her design using our logo as a start.  She created the image and surprised me with it and several others that you will see later in the year.  Joan did the wonderful calligraphy.  Once again Joan has taken lettering and made it wonderful.  In a world so used to computer generated anything and everything it is refreshing that we have her talent to create something totally unique for us.

      I made the card using the sketch challenge (SC154).  It is very straight forward using multiple layers of white, Purely Pomegranate, and Designer Paper all from SU.  The only stamping is done using the brand new Lace heart and Love sentiment from the Lace Hearts set released today.  Tiny pearls set off the corners that were highlighted using a punch.  The Love sentiment is also stamped on the white using the PP ink and the Nestabilities in 3 sizes using the DP, and PP and WW set of the wording so beautifully executed by Joan.

I see this set becoming a mainstay for me….not just for Valentines, but engagements, Marriage, Anniversary and any other time I want to salute the wonderful bliss of love.  It is designed to fit perfectly in the new Heart Nestabilities which we are waiting for at Flourishes.

Open To Love!

It will soon be release time at Flourishes,llc –and it is certainly a time filled with love in the air.  Today I am sharing a sneak of the Open To Love set.  I made this card for my niece Gretchen and Eric.  They are moving into their first home together and this seems so perfect for them.  Ah, first homes hold so many memories.

 OH DID I SAY……….There will be three new sets -yes 3-all with a Love Theme…This is one we were holding back from sneaks….but secrets this time of year are hard to keep

2nd Try for CPS Challenge

I am totally focused this week on a variety of ways to use the Fantasy Floral Gardens.  This is my second attempt for the CPS challenge. 

This tall card fits in a business size envelope…but both yesterday and today’s card fit in wonderful silver envelopes that SharonD, Flourish #3, picked up after Christmas last year.  They are perfect for both cards.

The color theme is Metallic silver from Flourishes, SU Night of Navy, and Whisper White.  My goal was to use only whites and silver on the card …sort of  winter berries with glistening snow and ice–yea, yea this southern girl does know about the cold white stuff, I lived in Germany for about 9 years!  The vine leaves were stamped in Craft white and come across as a light blue.  The outline image of the leaves was stamped in Silver Encore ink and heat embossed with Stardust by Custer’s Last Stamp.  Then I colored in the berries with the white -opaque Sharpie  pen, for more sparkle I added Jelly roll iridescent touches.  The Nestabilites gave me a perfect nest of ovals and 3 tiny white pearls really sets off this card.

Fantasy Floral Garden Featured in Card Positioning System Blog

This week Flourishes,llc is very proud to sponsor the Card Positioning Blog.  Tami Mayberry and her crew of designers do a wonderful job of designing stunning cards.  I know personally as I have received two cards this week using the sets that are featured. I hope that you will visit her site and take us up on the sketch challenge.  The Fantasy Floral Garden Set by Flourishes is very different and very adaptable to a multitude of card sketches and themes. 

This is the card I created today for the blog.  I used one of my  favorite color combinations…I haven’t used it much on cards, but the classic combo of Grey Suede and Camel Flannel with a dash of white is so striking. So today I gleamed from this using SU Creamy Carmel, Basic Grey, and Whisper White.  The images were all stamped in Basic  Grey and colored in with my Copic markers (and one Panatone).

The Copic Metallic markers give this cards that extra glitz. The ribbon is May Arts Scalloped edge black satin that we carry in the Flourishes store. 

 I think this card is just a delightful way to create a timeless look that is perfect for today!

Chocolate tins with Gift Card

Over at SCS and in Stampingdom, everyone seems mesmerized by the little nugget wrappers.  Yesterday was the last meeting for my stampers group until next year so I wanted to have a small gift on the table for each stamper.  So this is what I made….no, not nuggets but yes chocolate…more later.

These are actually tins of Chocolate, here is the Before and After picture:

The boxes turned out so pretty and were super simple to make.

The pretty sticker image is from Wal-Mart, costs $1.44 and had 4 very dimensional and glittery holiday images.  The Candy was also a WalMart find..at the checkout candy stand.   So here is the how to:

The Scor Pal…made this an efficient and easy task to accomplish.

Cut cardstock to wrap the tin:

3 3/4″ x 9″ (inches)

Score at 2″, 3″, 5 1/2″ and 6 1/2″

Use your favorite adhesive tape, either the red sticky or the one that Diana sells at Scor Pal….you want this to stick.

The designer paper for the top was cut to 3 5/8″ x 2 3/8″ and glued to the top.

The embellishment is the tags-sticker from Wal Mart and ribbons.

I then took the process one step further and decided that I will make one of each of our grandchildren and add in a gift card.

The gift card was a simple addition.  Using the card I measured and scored the card stock so it would wrap around  the card 2 times and added one inch.  I scored at both the top and bottom fold line.  The corner rounder made for a better fit of a small piece of coordinating designer paper, add a small strip of ribbon and another tag from the Wal Mart collection.Viola!
