Blog Achievement Celebrations

There are times in our lives that just call for a celebration!  One of the newest significant celebrations in our social networking world is a blog achievements.  There are blogavessaries celebrations and one of the great I think is achievements.  Many folks collect buttons and add them as they are awarded, but stats is quite another.

Stats achievement of the caliber I am refering to are the really huge numbers in visits to a blog.  300,00 visits is no small potatoes for a blog achievement.  Two of my favorite designers and talented designers are both celebrating this achievement this week.  They are Julie Koerber, FLLC DT Co ordinator and Laura Fredrickson a senior designer for FLLC.  My hat is off to these very talented ladies.  It is obvious that they have a lot to offer and we all visit them on a regular basis.  I would suggest that you visit these fine ladies, they have some prizes and challenges for you to join in making the celebrating much more fun for all.

The Friday Focus over on the Flourishes Newsletter today has Latisha Yost hosting a tutorial on tying great bows.  She has both a picture and video tutorial…..Just Fab!!!

For my card I work on a new type of vellum that I received from a stamper, Karen Wallace (thanks Karen).  I will share much more on this later.  I colored the images with Prisma color pencils after Stamping with Hybrid Palette Charcoal for the roses and Jardin for the leaves.  Layers of coloring and blender pencils gave me a great finished image on this new vellum.

The rest of the card is made up of :

Cardstock: Old Olive and White, Vellum

Cuttlebug folder, Swiss Dot, Kaiser Pearls, beautiful old ribbon and wonderful wired checked ribbon

Viola!  I was done.  Before I say goodbye here are a few more up close looks at this card.

 This vellum is a Sherr joy ot color on and the images just want to jump off the paper.  The dimension of these images is wonderful..It’s gotta be the vellum..LOL

Sweet & Sentimental -Day 3

Today is the last day of the sneak peeks of What’s New in the Flourishes webstore this month.

The third set being released today is Timeless Quotes.  The saying goes that ” the best things come in small packages”  is certainly true with Timeless Quotes.  The quotes are beautiful and ones you will use over and over again.

There is also a new addition to Flourishes and again a small in size package that is filled with great things.  So just who and what is this newest addition.  It is none other than Jenni Bowlin!

That’s right, we’ve added the small 4″ x 4″ papers teamed with with small envelopes to make a BIG punch with small cards!

Here is the card that I made using Victorian collection of papers.

Isn’t this  Simply Sophisticated!  This card was a breeze to make, requiring very little cutting.  The base card is Grey cardstock and the Moss Green and Jenni Bowlin were trimmed to fit.

The Quotes is the perfect size for this card and certainly is the finishing touch.

Here is the entire collection that comes in this package……with 24 sheets of Jenni Bowlin papers and 20 envelopes.

Sweet and Sentimental Sneak Peeks Day 2

Day Two has us revealing the set Ornamental Elements designed by Lauren Pope.  She has deleivered another show stopper with an ever versatile set.  This talented artist has given us a very organic element, filled with beautiful fluid lines.  There are two very easy to use elements in this set.

 

Here is my card for today’s part of the Release excitement:

This is literally a ten minute card.  I had the design in my sketchbook.  I love the very clean look of the apple green and black and white of the card.  The color combination is one of my very favorites.  The nice almost 4 ” square of the largest element of the set makes it nice for a large focal image.  I added a button which I cut the shank from before attaching.  The simple layering of the image onto Celery Green and Black cardstock made for a striking balance.  The white cardstock is layered with a tiny black and white dot paper that I have had for years and will hate to see it end soon.  I can no longer find this paper.

Playing with the very squareness of this card, prompted me to place the image on the diagonal.  The card will still fit into a regular square envelope for mailing and added the flatness of the button makes it all the better.

Viola!  Easy -peasy in my book.

Sweet & Sentimental Releases for March

It is Day one for a great set of new images from Flourishes.  The month is all about Sweet & Sentimental.  These new images will put into your hands some of the wonderful newest work by Marcella Hawley and Lauren Pope.

This is a sneak peek, you guessed it - Sweet Peas by Marcella!

This set is especially sweet, Marcella was just as excited as we were when we completed this set.  She even sat down and watercolored this image and sent it to me.  So we are sharing this with her permission… here is her original work on Sweet Peas.

Now doesn’t that make you drool and want that set.  On Friday were will have the Flourishes Release party at SCS;  this set along with two others will be released  Friday night — March 13th– at the tail end of our Release Party set for 8 to 10 PM central time in the Flourishes Forum on Splitcoast. We hope to “see” you there!

Now for my creation with this set.  I wanted to create something very nostalgic.  Really reminiscent of the sweet ladies and times of the Victorian age.  So while not a white hankie, here is my hankie version.
